Lake County Big Read

The NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) designed to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.Lake County Library is one of 77 not-for-profit organizations to receive a grant to host an NEA Big Read project between September 2017 and June 2018. The NEA presents NEA Big Read in partnership with Arts Midwest.

The NEA Big Read in Lake County, CA was held in October 2017 and featured Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Free copies of the book were available to county residents and there was a variety of events throughout the month exploring the themes of the novel selection. 

Planning is already under way for the next Big Read in October 2018 which will feature Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea.
