FunctionThe primary function of the Tehama County Juvenile Hall is to provide for the physical and emotional care of incarcerated youth pursuant to California Code of Regulations, Title 15 and Title 24 standards. Youth are detained in juvenile hall pending their Juvenile Court Hearings, while they are serving a commitment, or while they are awaiting out-of-home placement in a foster/group home, camp or other institution. The Tehama County Juvenile facility houses up to 64 youths and as mandated, it is operated with as homelike an environment as possible. This includes providing food, clothing, and personal hygiene items, as well as medical, psychiatric, and dental services.
For youth detained in the juvenile hall, a number of services are provided during the youth’s temporary stay:
- Secure physical care
- Assessment and treatment services
- Medical Care
- Mental Health Care
- Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous
- Religious services
- Music Lessons
- Life Skills Training
- Physical Education
Visiting is by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. On holiday weeks where the holiday is a Tuesday, there will be no visiting on the Wednesday. No visiting on county holidays. To make an appointment, call the number above a day in advance.
Only parents/legal guardians and grandparents are allowed to visit. No person under the age of 18 will be permitted to visit. Other individuals must be cleared through the Probation Department and/or Division Manager in order to visit. You must have picture identification to visit.
Absolutely nothing is allowed in the visiting area.
Juveniles are entitled to two hours of visitation each week. Visits can be for either 30 minutes or 60 minutes each visit. Additional visits may be allowed if the child is on the Treatment Program or is an Honor Ward.
If you are unable to visit your child in Tehama County because of a transportation issue, contact your child's probation officer at (707) 262-4285 to arrange for transportation. This requires advance notice to the probation officer to arrange a mutually acceptable time.
Minors are allowed to make COLLECT CALLS ONLY to Parent, Legal Guardian or Grandparent, as authorized by the probation officer or juvenile detention staff. If you cannot receive collect calls, dial 1-800-844-6591 to establish a billing account through Correctional Billing Services. You can also go to their website: www.correctionalbillingservices.com. Pre-paid collect accounts can be set up through Network Communications (NCIC Telephone Service) at 1-800-943-2189.
Juveniles are not allowed to receive telephone calls from anyone.
