A Statement from Moke Simon, District 1 Supervisor, Regarding the MAHA Project

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (February 23, 2021) – When the Lake County Board of Supervisors approved the Guenoc Valley Mixed Use Planned Development Project (the MAHA Project) on July 21, 2020, we did it because it was a truly exemplary project.  We did our due diligence, and we stand behind that decision.
In the planning stages, there was considerable public outreach, and there is strong community support.  It is clear from the project’s design great respect has been paid to the beauty and rural nature, and the rich Tribal history, of Lake County.
Our Board keeps public safety front and center in our minds when we make any decision.  As approved, this project will enhance fire safety, adding a fire station and helipad.
The MAHA Project also promises to be an economic engine for local small business.  Our Board’s continued support of this project is an investment in Lake County’s future.
