Subject: Notice of Election and Dates Fixed for Submitting Arguments for or Against Yuba Community College District: General Obligation Bond Election – Measure “C” to Be Voted on at the Consolidated Presidential Primary Election on March 3, 2020

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified electors of Lake County in accordance with applicable law, a Consolidated Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 (EC § 1000(d)). The polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Election Day; at which election there will be submitted to the voters the question to authorize the issuance of General Obligation Bonds, establishing specifications of the election order, and requesting consolidation with other elections occurring on March 3, 2020.

Arguments for and against Measure “C” must be typed and submitted to the Lake County Registrar of Voters (707-263-2372), Courthouse – Room 209, 255 N Forbes Street, Lakeport, no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2019. This has been determined to be a reasonable date based upon the time necessary to prepare and submit for printing in the Sample Book (EC § 9286(a)). No argument shall exceed 300 words in length (EC § 9282(c)). No more than five signatures shall appear with any argument (EC § 9283). All arguments must be accompanied by the “Statement That Argument is True and Correct” as required by Section 9600 of the California Elections Code provided by the Registrar of Voters Office, stating the printing name and signature or printed names and signatures of the person or persons submitting it or, if submitted on behalf of an organization, the name of the organization and the printed name and signature of at least one of its principal officers.

Only one argument for and one argument against Measure “C” shall be selected for printing and distribution with the sample ballots. Author(s) of a selected argument may prepare and submit a rebuttal argument not exceeding 250 words (EC § 9285(a)(3)) to the Lake County Registrar of Voters no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019. The Registrar of Voters will notify the author(s) of selected arguments in writing of the procedure to submit a rebuttal argument (EC § 9285(a)(1)).

Over the next few weeks the Office of the Registrar of Voters will be sending registrants Residency Confirmation Mailing post cards to check that their addresses are up-to-date in their voter registration record. Voters can complete and sign the postage-paid, self-addressed post card, and mail it to the Lake County Registrar of Voters Office.

The Registrar of Voters Office is located in the Courthouse (Room 209) at 255 N Forbes Street, Lakeport open Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. It will be closed Monday, December 23 through Friday, December 27 in observance of the Winter Holiday.
