Lake County Vehicle Amnesty Days, October 20 and 21
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (September 27, 2017) – Is there an old, beat up car in your neighborhood? Maybe in your driveway? One you’ve been meaning to get rid of for years? Maybe you just didn’t know the best place to take it?
The Cities of Clearlake and Lakeport, California Highway Patrol and the County of Lake are teaming up to offer a great opportunity to get rid of your junk cars, motorhomes, car parts, travel trailers and more.
Set an alert on your phone and mark your calendar for Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21, 9am-3pm, Vehicle Amnesty Days in Lake County.
Both days, standard vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and vans, can be dropped off from 9am-3pm at Kelseyville Auto Salvage, 7666 State Hwy 29, just west of Kit’s Corner, in Kelseyville.
Also from 9am-3pm both days, larger vehicles, such as motorhomes, recreational vehicles, trailered boats, school buses, and travel trailers can be taken to Jones Towing, 923 Parallel Dr., in Lakeport.
If you know right now you will not be available during those hours, vehicles can be received at both locations on Wednesday and Thursday, October 18 and 19. However, you must contact the tow companies ahead, and drop off vehicles during business hours.
Motors (without oil), vehicle parts and batteries can also be brought to both amnesty sites for free disposal. Extra tires and garbage will not be accepted.
What if your car isn’t registered? No problem, the Department of Motor Vehicles, in Lakeport, will provide a one trip permit for each vehicle, free of charge. If you do not have title documents, bring your vehicle, anyway. Help us keep Lake County beautiful!
